difference between pcos and pcod

GMoney Anchor - So doctor we are going to talk today about Polycystic Ovary Disorder. A name that needs no introduction, but let's start with the basics. Tell all our viewers what PCOD is. What is the difference between PCOD and PCOS?

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – PCOD stands for Polycystic Ovarian Disorder and PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The syndrome that exists now is a more extended form of the disorder. It can be said that when a disorder becomes bad, it becomes a syndrome. Basically, both of these happen due to hormonal imbalances. Nowadays, our lives have become such that we do all our work while sitting. There are very few activities, Mobile phones, laptops, etc. take up all our time throughout the day.

Nowadays, people have become very self-centered; they live within themselves. Because of this, there are problems like stress and anxiety. Being overweight also affects the ovaries. This affects the period cycle. Periods coming only six times a year, or too many periods, cause problems.

GMoney Anchor - You have explained it to us in great detail. What is the reason for PCOD?

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – This is due to a hormonal imbalance. Human evolution is happening continuously. Some evolutions are not always good. Some bad things happen too. In evolution, when something starts becoming permanent in our body, we call it a notation. What is happening now is that someone is overweight. There is no right time to eat or drink. PCOD is also one of those problems. Many saree problems and many medical conditions are related to it, so now we understand that there is some genetic problems as well and our lifestyle is also pushing us towards problems.

GMoney Anchor - Well, now tell how increasing weight and PCOD are related.

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – It is directly connected that if weight increases, then PCOD increases, and having PCOD increases weight. Now, when a patient comes to us, has PCOD, and is a young girl, we get an almost 50% diagnosis that it could be PCOD.

The weight of a patient is very high. That’s why we tell the patient that if you first reduce your weight, then PCOD will decrease. Your PCOD cannot be over. Never think that there is a cure for PCOD.

Due to our lifestyle, it can be less Going forward, as her age increases, she keeps on developing diabetes, stomach-related problems, and cholesterol problems. When children are small, you feel that your child’s weight is increasing very fast, you should get their proper health checkup done.

GMoney Anchor - What is the relation of Androgen and Progesterone to PCOD?

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – Now we know that girls have more estrogen. There is a balance between estrogen and progesterone. Now what is happening in this PCOD is that this balance is deteriorating. Your egg will not be proper. Small eggs will be made. Cosmetic problems arise when the progesterone level increases. Hair starts coming on the face.

You feel isolated with your friends in a group like yours and may comment about looks, which can lead to a lot of depression, and anxiety. Don’t eat packaged or frozen foods to control PCOD. Exercise, play, jump, play games, and don’t use your mobile phone the whole day.

GMoney Anchor - How important is our diet in this?

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – First of all, I will talk about what kind of diet is required for PCOD? Intermittent fasting is what releases growth hormones. Makes you lose fat. Don’t follow a strict diet. I see that working women skip breakfast. Never skip breakfast. You have to include proteins in your diet.

GMoney Anchor - Well my last question is how does a high level of insulin worsen PCOD? What is the relationship?

Dr. Ranu Chhabra – Increasing insulin resistance means that the glucose that is there is not going into the cells, that glucose is circulating in your blood stream. Your sugar level is increasing, and because of this, all your hormones are getting disturbed. Sweets should be completely banned.

GMoney Anchor - Today we have learned about PCOD from start to finish. Dr. Ranu Chhabra, thank you, for taking out valuable time from your busy schedule. Thank you so much.
