GMoney Anchor - First of all, I want to ask you about the harms of drinking cold drinks on our teeth.

Dr. Mohammad Azher – Hello and thank you for having me. Regarding the topic of the harms of drinking cold drinks, in my personal opinion, I believe that consuming cold drinks only has negative effects. Moreover, the personal viewpoint is that I avoid drinking cold drinks. The primary reason for this is that when we talk about cold drinks, they typically have a very high sugar content.

Dr. Mohammad Azher – When it comes to sugar content, it significantly affects our teeth, increasing the chances of cavities. So, if we do want to consume them, we should try to choose beverages with lower sugar content. We should aim for minimal sugar consumption. Another issue with cold drinks is their high acidity. Due to their acidic nature, they erode the top layer of your teeth, which is the hardest part of your enamel. The acidity can weaken the enamel, leading to an increased risk of cavities.

GMoney Anchor - Doctor, if I may ask, which diseases are at risk for those who regularly consume cold drinks?

Dr. Mohammad Azher – Apart from cavities, the consumption of cold drinks can have a systemic effect on your body, leading to systemic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. These diseases are very common, especially due to the high sugar content in these drinks. It’s a significant contributing factor to the prevalence of heart disease and diabetes in today’s time. Those who consume a lot of cold drinks or sugary beverages are at a higher risk of developing these diseases.

GMoney Anchor - For those who consume a significant amount of cold drinks, there is also an increased risk of tooth decay.

Dr. Mohammad Azher – Yes, cold drinks, including various types such as carbonated soft drinks, sports drinks, and fruit drinks, can significantly increase the risk of tooth decay due to their high sugar content. Typically, the World Health Organization recommends that an individual should consume no more than 6 teaspoons of sugar per day. For men, it should not exceed 9 teaspoons. However, many of these drinks contain excessive amounts of sugar, which can lead to an increased risk of dental issues.
